A Study on Burnout of Clinical Nurses


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the degree of Burnout of clinical nurses and to identify factors affecting the Burnout.
Data was collected from 114 nurses who participated in the In-Service education program of the Jin Ju District, Gyeong Nam Branch of the Korea Nurses Association during November 1986. The results were:
1. Nurses¢¥ perception of Burnout & Job related Stress
1) Degree of Burnout was 3.061 out of 7 point scale.
2) Mean Score of Job related Stress was 4.240 out of 6 point scale. It means the nurses experience high degree of stress.
2. Factors affecting Nurses¢¥ Burnout
1) The first hypothesis that there was significant correlation between nurses Burnout and personal characteristics was rejected.
2) The second hypothesis that the more nurses perceived job related stress, they feel more Burnout was supported. (r=0.3573, p=0.0002)
3) The third hypothesis that the more nurses perceived support system, they feel less Burnout was rejected.
